Workshop I

 

CubeSats - The future of satellite technology!

 

A first of its kind in India, this workshop aims at providing all the general technical knowledge and put the participants abreast with the latest in this wonderful stream of satellite technology!

 

Intended Audience: Undergraduate/High School students interested in aerospace, satellite communication, physical research and space exploration, having basic know-how of satellites and communication through them. Those with keen interest in Electronics, Communication and Software Engineering are most welcome.

 

Description: The workshop marks the beginning activities of SEDSIC 2007, we shall begin with a small introductory lecture by Kirk Kittell, which shall be followed a by a talk on "CubeSats- a remarkable past, a glorious future" which shall comprehend all that has been achieved and all the developments that are expected in the near future in this field from across the globe.The SEDS VIT CubeSat Design Team shall present its design and model with a brief description of its working ( 20min. approx.). In the pre-lunch session we shall have a presentation on "CubeSats--Everyone's Satellite" which would bring to us all the general technical know how and off-the shelf build approach that makes these satellites, literally every man's satellites.

Minimum number of participants: A minimum of 30 participants is necessary for the workshop to take place.

 

Expected outcomes: By the end of the workshop, participants will:

    * know the rudiments of CubeSat design and related technology;

    * be more familiar with the latest trends in student-driven space research;

    * understand the principles that govern the construction of CubeSats and their operations;
