SCHOLARSHIPS

SEDS alumni have donated funds that are available to your national SEDS organization; to attend the SEDS International Conference in India on 22-23 September because they think you will benefit from meeting each other and attending the conference.
If any of this is confusing -- let me know, I will explain more.

Important dates
* 15 Aug: You must email me a proposal containing:

(a) who from your SEDS organization will use the funds;

(b) why they are going and what they hope to accomplish during/after the conference;

(c) an estimate of  the total travel cost;

(d) an estimate of other funds that have been raised for your travel.

* 1 Sept: Your travel ticket to India must be purchased by this date.
               This will be the final update to the total funds available.
* 22-23 Sept: SEDSIC

Other rules
* The money will only be given to you at the conference in India. So,
you must attend to receive it.
* If a national organization gives up their share of the money, it will
be available to the other organizations.
* Extra points will be given if your organization's member(s) present a
paper or participate in the rover design competition.
* Between now and 1 September, some rules may change -- probably not,
but just in case, you have been warned.

How much money?
* The minimum available to each of the 11 organizations is $200.
(SEDS-India is excluded from this.)
* The rest of the money will be given based on a formula that considers:
       (1) the amount of funds that you have raised from others;

       (2) the quality of your purpose for attending; and

       (3) the Human Development Index of your country (as a quick-and-dirty way of determining  how your cost of living compares to the cost of living of others).
